On Thinking Systems

On Thinking Systems

Our problems are transdisciplinary and our science is not. A note on cyber systemic thinking, on UFABC's interdisciplinary model, and on the bureaucracies that keep knowledge in boxes.

Delving into the text was an enriching experience, as it invites us to recognize and prioritize the transdisciplinary nature of our reality. It emphasizes that we can only understand a complex system by looking at the relationships inside it, never by taking it apart.

The university that trained me was built on exactly this premise. UFABC has no departments in the usual sense, and every student passes through a common interdisciplinary core before choosing a path.

The existing scientific concepts cover always only a very limited part of reality, and the other part that has not yet been understood is infinite.
